Oil Spill Cleanup English STEAM Lesson 1 and Lesson 2

STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. In this 2 hour class we used English to learn about all these topics in fun, engaging and unique lessons. Students are encouraged to teach themselves and communicate only in English. Lessons perfect for children with advanced or strong English abilities. Let's have fun using English!

STEAMは、科学 (Science)、技術 (Technology)、工学 (Engineering)、芸術 (Art)、数学 (Math) の頭文字をとったものです。

この2時間のクラスでは、英語を使ってこれらの分野を楽しく、魅力的でユニークな方法で学びます。生徒たちは自ら学ぶことを奨励され、英語のみでコミュニケーションを取ることが求められます。

This month's STEAM topic was all about the environment! We learned about oil and how dangerous oil spills can be. We discussed the damage they can cause to the environment and the ocean. Students used computers and YouTube to find videos to answer the question: How does an oil spill affect the environment? We watched some videos together and had a lively discussion!

After this, I told students that they would build their own island paradise model! We then got to work planning and researching how to build a model island.

The students chose the resources for the next week. They asked for sand, rocks, glue, sticks, paper, and paint.

今月のSTEAMテーマは環境でした！

油と油流出の危険性について学び、環境や海への影響を話し合いました。生徒たちはコンピューターとYouTubeを使い、**「油流出は環境にどう影響するのか？」**を調べ、動画を見た後に活発なディスカッションをしました。

その後、生徒たちは自分だけの楽園の島モデルを作ることに！まずは計画とリサーチを行い、次回のために必要な材料を決定。

砂、石、のり、木の枝、紙、絵の具をリクエストし、制作準備を整えました。

During the second week, we built our islands in a large tray! They had so much fun mixing sand with glue and decorating their islands. They added trees, houses, and Minecraft decorations. The islands turned out beautifully. Let's hope they remain free from oil spills!

第2週目は、大きなトレイの中に島を作成！

生徒たちは砂とのりを混ぜたり、飾りつけをしたりと大盛り上がり。木や家、マインクラフト風のデコレーションを加え、それぞれの島を完成させました。

仕上がりはとても美しく、まるで本物の楽園！この島が油流出から守られますように！
